In praise of the slow web

Most of the web is engineered for velocity: infinite scroll, autoplay, push notifications, engagement loops. It's exhausting by design.

The slow web is a deliberate counter-move. Fewer updates, more substance. Pages that reward attention instead of demanding it.

What slow looks like

• Content you'd happily read in five years.
• Interfaces that are calm, not clamoring.
• Motion that's ambient, not attention-grabbing.

Slow isn't lazy

Slow takes more care, not less. It means editing, revisiting, and pruning. It means the animated background is soothing rather than flashy, and the loading spinner is a tiny piece of craft rather than a corporate throbber.

A personal site is one of the last places online you fully control. Mine is going to be a quiet room — green, papery, and unhurried.
